The San Cristóbal de la Habana brand was originally named after the city of Havana in 1519. Launched in 1999, the brand pays homage to the city's rich history at the turn of the new millennium. The brand initially launched a collection of four vitolas, whose names correspond to the forts that the Spanish built in cities between the 16th and 18th centuries to protect them from possible attacks: El Morro, La Fuerza, La Punta and El Morro.
